PRESS INFO – MUCHLOVED CHARITABLE TRUST – STAND Y37
www.muchloved.com was founded in 2005 and is the first UK registered charity established to assist people who have suffered bereavement by enabling them to create and maintain unique and sensitive website tributes.
Organisation Structure
The founder, Jonathan Davies, experienced the bereavement of a sibling at a young age and this has helped guide the development of MuchLoved to be totally focused on the needs of the bereaved. There is no charge to create a website and there will shortly be a free 10 year hosting service. MuchLoved also partner a number of other bereavement charities, providing useful information on sources of help and also enabling people to raise ‘in memory of’ donations to their chosen charity.Functionality
The functionality of MuchLoved is much deeper than most other memorial sites, whilst still remaining intuitive and easy to use. Examples are as follows:- The Site Guardian can control the speed and fading of their slideshow to get the appearance they want. Visitors can stop the slideshow and manually move from one image to the next if they prefer. Visitors can also see an enlarged slideshow version to see bigger versions of the pictures simply by clicking on it.
- A central ‘Library’ allows the Guardian to easily manage all their pictures, songs and video and to link them to any story or other entry they want anywhere throughout the site. This means they can illustrate specific stories, timeline events and journal entries with the appropriate meaningful pictures, songs or video clip.
- The music player enables songs to be played seamlessly throughout the site but change when an alternative song is selected. Music does not 'stop' simply as visitors move from one section of the tribute to another and you can alter volume level, mute and move tracks forwards or backwards as requested.
Appearance
MuchLoved tributes have been designed to look beautiful regardless of what and how much content is added. They are not fixed width so will fit both large and small computer screens and any functions not being used by the Guardian are hidden rather than displayed as empty (e.g. if they are not collecting donations, the 'donate' function will not be visible to visitors). It is easy for the Guardian to make changes using quick edit buttons and they can amend all content. There is also never the question of commercial links or adverts to ensure that the site remains special in appearance as well as rich in functionality.Privacy and Access
Privacy and access are fundamental to the site architecture and there is sophisticated authentication software to ensure that the Guardian has total control and confidence in terms of who can visit, what visitors can view and what they can contribute. An example of the approach here is that the Site Guardian can decide whether to review all contributions before they are posted to their site with an 'accept' or 'decline' facility.PLEASE DO VISIT US AT Y37 FOR A QUICK DEMONSTRATION
